I can't believe it has been a month, time sure flies.
SOOOOOO, I've been to LONDON last month as a birthday gift to myself. Main part of the trip was the MCM Expo (a well celebrated 21st birthday ^^). Sadly I was still sick and have been coughing through the whole time (and about a week after I got back), and the cold weather wasn't too kind. But I got some medicine from Boots that helped me survive.
I was so nervous on the flight since it was my first time flying alone, that I felt nauseous and haven't had a bite until I got to the hotel. A nice lady that sat next to me calmed me down a little when the plane took off.
After getting my room and putting my stuff in place I went out to prove my parents I'm in London (by their request), took a map and headed towards Westminster and the Big Ben. Took a little less than an hour to get there, almost two hours back, since I actually managed to get lost within a 5-minute walk from the hotel (took a wrong turn, later turned out I was on a street parallel to the one I needed to be on). I managed to get back to the hotel before it got too cold.
The next day (Thursday, 22.5) I went to the London Eye, as I had a ticket for the Eye, Sea Life and the London Dungeon. I got so early that the ticket office wasn't open yet. I got to the Aquarium first, and quite surprisingly there was another family from Israel that got in a little after I did. Such a small world.
The view from the London Eye was MAGNIFICENT! It was cloudy at most, but it didn't really bother me (only that photos turned out to be a bit grey-ish). I've been there until noon, and when I went back I hopped to visit the National Gallery at Trafalgar's Square, and was caught off-guard by heavy rain as I walked out. Now, this might not be so surprising to locals, but I'm used to a condition where if it rains around the end of May, the end of the world must be upon us. I didn't even realize just how normal these sudden rains are.
And then came FRIDAY, the first day of the con! Since it only started at 2PM, I took a little stroll down Oxford St., went back to the hotel to get my Zacharie cosplay on and get my stuff, and headed tooooo...THE WHO SHOP! As my sister is quite a whovian, it was my duty to to make this shop a must-see and must-buy. The guy in the store was super nice and showed me how to get to the Excel building from there, and off I went!
I was so excited to see so many people in a con, and there were some really awesome cosplayers X3 ohhh, and I got to meet alexiuss
and recieved a free small print for being a translator owo" I was kinda embarrassed.
AND THEN THERE'S SATURDAY WHICH IS MY BIRTHDAY! For that day I went as me with a Deadpool hat (which people really adored) and a sign saying "IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!". I carried some markers in my pocket and asked people to sign my sign, and even got a bag of skittles from a completely random person! I was in a queue for the longest time I can remember (as someone next to my stated: "queuing - the favorite British past-time"
) for the Cyanide&Happiness booth, and got a signed book, a mouse pad, and a sketch of a date between a pirate and a ninja :3
AND LAST THERE WAS SUNDAY! I went again as Zacharie, and when I got inside in the morning some girls asked if the could take a picture of me and I was reeeeaallly HAPPY. This day's queue was to get a photo with TomSka and get him to sign my sketchbook ^^
I saw a whole bunch of cool cosplayers at the masquerade! Sadly I wasn't feeling very well so I sat down for most of the time in different places.
On Monday I finally went to the British Museum (and I sat "finally" because it's a short walk from the hotel and I still couldn't find it).Later that evening I went to the theater to see "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". It was an amazing play, and funny too, and I got me a Wonka bar after the show
Tuesday was a bit of a bummer. I wanted to go to Camden Market and the zoo, but it started raining so hard that I only got a glimpse of the market and the zoo was out of the question. At least I made it to London's Hard Rock Cafe to get me and my sister some t-shirts, but I stayed in for most of the day.
My flight back on Wednesday was only at 10:30PM, so I had an entire day to wonder around after checking-out at around 11:00 AM. I went to the Science Museum and had a great time, and went on an unplanned visit to the Saatchi Gallery, before I went back and had another walk down Oxford St., only this time I went to Hyde Park for a little walk until I had to got back and get my stuff, and take the tube back to the airport.
I owe a lot of my planning to deviants who suggested good places to visit on I thread I opened at the forums.
I really had a great time, and tomorrow I'm finally getting my photos developed, so I can keep looking back at it more vividly every time.
Wish I could go again soon
